Traffic Enforement Division

The Los Angeles Police department is divided into four geographic areas, South Bureau, West Bureau, Central Bureau, and Valley Bureau. These bureaus are each patrolled by a traffic division. The traffic divisions are responsible for the investigation of traffic collisions and traffic-related crimes. In addition to investigation, each division also educates the community, enforces traffic laws, and does outreach work.

officers are members of highly trained paramilitary units that tackle situations beyond the capability of conventional police forces. SWAT teams are called in when an incident presents significant risk to law enforcement officers or the public.

General Investigations Unit

 

The G.I.U. is responsible for the prosecution of the most serious and violent crimes committed in Los Angeles. The G.I.U. also plays a huge role in ensuring the safety of citizens.The General Investigations Unit is home to some of the most experienced detectives in the LAPD. The G.I.U detectives will be broken up into different units. A detective can choose if they want to specialize in Narcotics, Major Crimes or if they want to be a detective that will respond to any call.

Air Support Division

 

The Los Angeles Police Department Air Support Division is the airborne law enforcement program of the LAPD. It is the largest municipal airborne law enforcement organization in the United States and operates from the LAPD Hooper Heliport
